"Several years ago, I joined the ranks of thousands who care give for their loved ones. What a rich and rewarding experience! Yet it is also demanding and time consuming. If you are a caregiver, whether by choice or career, then you likely understand the diverse dynamics and polarity of joy and heartache. Balancing marriage, family, career, and caregiving left little room for self-care and eventually led to exhaustion, unexpected surgery, and a lingering unexplained sense of emptiness. Given that I was happy in all the major areas of my life, the sense of emptiness seemed particularly odd and unshakeable.
And then the pivotal moment came; the moment when I knew why I felt so empty. It was not the result of any tragedy and yet it struck me like one. I realized that I did not love myself. I didn’t treat myself badly nor did anyone else, I just didn’t think of myself as loveable or truly love myself.
And at that moment, I had a choice. I could brush it off as a silly thought or I could face it.
I chose the latter and began a journey of self-care that has changed my life—an inward journey of learning to love who I am without reservation or expectation. Though my roles did not change and time was still precious, I began to instill small, consistent, non-time consuming moments of selfcare – changing my self-talk, incorporating regular skincare, and implementing small changes. And along the journey, Resonate Skincare was created to provide you with moments of selfcare through nourishing, effective, plant-based skincare products."
